The Landscape Beyond the Home
When we build or renovate a home, every decision is carefully considered.
We spend months selecting flooring, paint colours, kitchen finishes, lighting, furniture and artwork. Every element is chosen to create a space that feels cohesive, welcoming and reflective of the people who live there.
But a home is not experienced only from the inside.
It begins at the entrance. It continues through courtyards, terraces, gardens, pathways and outdoor living spaces. The landscape shapes how a home is approached, how it feels from the street, and how it is lived in every day.
At Atelier Terra, we believe the landscape deserves every bit as much consideration as the home itself.
That philosophy is the foundation of everything we do.
A Home Should Feel Connected
The most memorable homes feel connected.
The architecture, interiors and landscape work together to create one complete experience. Materials, colours, textures and proportions are considered not in isolation, but as part of the whole.
A thoughtfully designed entrance creates a sense of arrival before you step through the front door. A planted courtyard can become a quiet retreat. A terrace framed with sculptural pots and layered greenery can feel like a natural extension of the living room.
When every element has been considered, the result is a home that feels balanced, timeless and complete.

The Landscape Is More Than Planting
Landscape design is often associated with gardens and planting, but it is about much more than that.
It is about arrival, atmosphere and movement. It is about framing views, softening architecture, creating outdoor rooms and giving each area of a property a sense of purpose.
Just as furniture, lighting and artwork bring character to an interior, carefully selected pots help define and elevate outdoor spaces.
They can frame an entrance, soften a courtyard, anchor an outdoor setting or create structure where planting alone cannot. Whether holding a sculptural tree, seasonal flowers or simple greenery, a beautiful pot becomes an architectural element in its own right.

Why Atelier Terra Was Created
Atelier Terra grew naturally from years of residential landscape design through Dana Johnston Landscape Design.
Across many projects, one thing became clear: the right outdoor pots can completely change the way a space feels.
They can add scale to a new build, character to an established home, softness to hard landscaping, or a sense of permanence to an entrance or terrace.
But finding pieces with the right balance of proportion, material, quality and timelessness was not always simple.
Atelier Terra was created to offer a curated collection of premium outdoor pots for New Zealand homes and landscapes. Not an overwhelming catalogue, but a considered selection of pieces chosen for their ability to work beautifully within well-designed outdoor spaces.

More Than Decoration
We don’t see outdoor pots as decorative accessories added at the end of a project.
We see them as part of the design.
The right pot can create a sense of arrival, define a threshold, bring texture to a wall, frame a view or make an outdoor space feel more finished.
Like good architecture and thoughtful landscaping, their impact often lies in their simplicity.
When proportion, material and placement are considered carefully, a single pot can transform the way a space feels.

Our Approach
At Atelier Terra, we believe beautiful outdoor spaces are created through restraint, quality and thoughtful design.
We believe in investing in fewer, better pieces.
We believe gardens should mature gracefully alongside the homes they surround.
And we believe the landscape deserves every bit as much consideration as the home itself.
Whether you are selecting a single statement planter for your entrance, defining a courtyard or furnishing an entire landscape, our hope is that every piece contributes to a home that feels complete.
Because a beautiful home doesn’t stop at its walls.
It continues into the landscape
